The Power of Words
Our words hold tremendous power. We can use them to bring joy or cause harm, share knowledge and stories, or obtain the things we need. Through it all, we use our words to connect with others.
There are roughly 6,500 languages in the entire world. Even before we used the written word, our ancestors told stories as a device to preserve their history, entertain their spectators, and build connection among their people. These stories were created to help humankind understand things such as nature, the four seasons, and the cycle of life. They evoked emotions such as joy, fear, surprise, and sorrow, captivating the people by relating to them.
We still enjoy sharing stories today—only now, we can share them with a much larger audience. Once the development of writing occurred, it opened a whole new world of opportunity for storytellers. Each year, about 650 million printed books are sold. Each fiction book can sell anywhere from 500 to 500,000 copies in its lifetime. There’s no denying that people love to read a good book!
Invest in Yourself
I believe everyone has a story to tell and wishes to captivate their audience from start to finish, but often, readers will leave books unfinished or write negative reviews. Much of the time with indie authors, this is due to easily avoidable mistakes such as grammatical errors or plot holes. If you want your story to come across clearly, creatively, and professionally, receive fantastic five-star reviews, and achieve bestseller status, the first step (after writing, of course) is to hire professional services!
It’s important to create a professional cover to draw in your potential readers, professional editing will hook and maintain their interest until the last page, and marketing helps get the word out about your book, just to name a few. Don’t underestimate the importance of any of these steps, or the value a professional can add to your book. As the old saying goes, being a jack of all trades makes you a master of none. Professionals do these things for a living and specialize in their individual services, therefore hosting optimal knowledge about how to best enhance your specific book and get it in the hands of many.
Value yourself and your book enough to hire professionals who can help you on your publishing journey. Remember, you need to first invest in yourself if you expect others to do the same by purchasing your book.
